Asking on the next date is easier than asking for the first. All you have to do is give it about 1-2 days of normal texting back and forth and then hit her with another call on the telephone.
I’d suggest keeping the second date activity relative to what she talked about or mentioned on the first. If she loves cats then consider taking her to a cat cafe or something of the sort. You get the idea.
You can also ask for a second date at the end of the first. Per missionary standards, never leave without a return appointment! This is not essential but know it’s possible. Only use this option if you’re confident you both had a great time (ex: she’s very smiley) so neither of you have to wonder.
It’s customary to let her text a thank you for the date. That might not always happen but after the date I like to let her send the first text.
Either way, and regardless of who messages first, if you enjoyed yourself you’ll want to send a quick “I had a great time getting to know you” or “yesterday was so fun”. Something to let her know you had a good time.
Fun fact, people having a good time usually means that they want to do it again.
